A modern, lightweight and powerful wiki app built on NodeJS

Important

This repository is an opinionated fork of Wiki.js 2.x, tuned for controlled, corporate documentation. It tracks upstream Wiki.js and layers the additions below on top. Every addition is opt-in through the normal admin UI — stock Wiki.js behaviour is unchanged unless you turn it on. The features are outlined below; see dev/docs/fork-features.md for the user/admin guide (wiki-ready) and dev/docs/corporate-workflow.md for the technical deep dive.

✨ What this fork adds (vs. upstream Wiki.js)

✍️ Editing

  • Clipboard image paste & drag-and-drop — paste screenshots straight from the clipboard, or drop image files, into the Markdown and Visual editors. They upload as page assets and are inserted at the cursor. Works on Windows, macOS and Linux — the feature stock Wiki.js famously lacks.

🔒 Controlled publishing workflow

A full review/approval pipeline that turns Wiki.js into a governed documentation system. (Details in dev/docs/corporate-workflow.md.)

  • Watch — subscribe to a page (yourself, or assign others/groups) and receive a debounced, consolidated email digest when its published content changes, with a change summary and a link to the diff.
  • Managed pages — flag a page so only designated managers can publish directly. Everyone else proposes changes as drafts edited in the full editor; a manager reviews the draft as a side-by-side diff and publishes or rejects it. Draft-authoring never touches the live page until published.
  • Review / Approve — per-revision sign-off by designated approvers, with a prominent Approved badge on the page once every current approver has approved the current revision (review mode gives the same flow with softer wording).
  • Groups everywhere — watchers, managers and approvers can be individual users or whole groups, resolved to live membership at evaluation time (adding someone to an approver group immediately makes them a pending approver).
  • Explicit list editing — in the editor's Page Properties → Workflow tab, list edits are staged: new entries are marked new, removed entries stay visible struck-through with an undo, and an Apply changes button (disabled until something changed) commits the list; Discard reverts it.
  • Email notifications for every step (watch digest, draft submitted/rejected, approval requested, changes requested), through the existing mail subsystem.

🛠️ Administration & presentation

  • Mail-failure alert — admins get a dismissible banner (on every page) when notification email fails to send, so silent delivery problems don't go unnoticed.
  • Private site — hide the social share buttons in a page's share menu, leaving only Copy URL and Email.
  • Hide "Powered by Wiki.js" — remove the attribution from the footer and print output.
  • Print QR code — when printing a page, render a QR code (in the page-title header) that links back to the live page.
  • Customizable load/save animation — choose the spinner shown while pages load and save: 20 presets, plus colour and speed, with a live preview.
  • Git build info — Admin → System Info shows the running branch / commit / date, so you always know exactly which build is deployed (works in dev, bare-metal, and Docker).

📦 Distribution

  • A self-contained release pipeline (.github/workflows/release-fork.yml) that builds and publishes a Docker image to this fork's GitHub Container Registry namespace and cuts a GitHub Release with a bare-metal tarball — versioned after the corresponding upstream release with a _jp suffix. Grab a build from the Releases page.
