Kitchen Show's native Kiosk Satellite camera overlays use imported Home Assistant camera entities with HLS preferred over WebRTC on the Fire/WebView-class display.
Live collection of plug-and-play Home Assistant packages. Each YAML file in this folder bundles sensors, helpers, automations, scripts, and Lovelace assets needed for a specific subsystem so you can drop it into configuration.yaml with a single packages: include.
- You are here:
config/packages/(self-contained packages) - Repo overview | Config index | Automations | Scripts | Scenes | Templates | Package triggers | YouTube | Blog
- Disabled/staging packages follow the
.disabledor.NOTWORKINGsuffix; remove it after you update credentials or hardware.
- Keep everything for a subsystem (alarm, garage, water shutoff, etc.) in one file, which makes versioning, troubleshooting, and sharing dramatically easier.
- Encapsulate helpers (input_booleans, sensors, scripts) so enabling/disabling a capability is as simple as moving one file in or out of the
packages/include. - Document hardware dependencies right next to the logic so you remember which gear keeps each automation alive.
- Enable
packages:underhomeassistant:in yourconfiguration.yaml, then drop any of these YAML files into the folder with your own entity IDs/secrets. - Scan the comments at the top of each package for credential requirements, MQTT topics, or REST endpoints that need to be swapped.
- Need reusable triggers or button automations? Check the companion triggers subfolder for examples before rolling your own.
Kitchen Show note: kiosk_tablet.yaml uses Kiosk Satellite's native ESPHome entity set for display control, health, screenshots, and updates. The policy keeps the panel reachable and sets master volume to 13% while either bed is occupied and restores 75% when both are empty, with reconciliation at 08:00 and startup; while group.bed is on or the family is away, the Dim screensaver goes dark instead of using unreliable true panel-off. A Frigate Driveway alert wakes the household kiosks and holds the live Driveway feed until occupancy clears or the ten-minute safety limit expires, below Garage and Front Door in camera priority.
After Home Assistant starts, each enrolled native Show waits three minutes for the initial state burst to settle, reloads its dashboard page once if the device is reachable, then captures a fresh screenshot. Periodic screenshot refreshes do not reload the page.
Kitchen, Upstairs and Office voice use Kiosk Satellite's native Assist satellite through the existing ESPHome connection. The voice overlay uses Docked mode with a light card at bottom center, keeping the dashboard visible during conversations. The Kitchen Joanna pipeline uses a dedicated GPT-5.6 Luna conversation agent with reasoning off and standard Assist controls, tries local intents first, and retains Home Assistant Cloud speech recognition and Jenny's voice. The existing announcement agent keeps its separate prompt and GPT-5 nano model. Assistant and wake-word choices are managed on the device's Home Assistant controls; wake-word detection runs on the kiosk, while command recognition and spoken replies use the selected Assist pipeline. Custom wake-word models can be imported directly under Kiosk Satellite's Voice Satellite > Wake Word settings without adding dashboard resources or restarting Home Assistant.
Native Show enrollment is centralized in satellite_devices() in kiosk_health.jinja. Each entry supplies its stable maintenance key, native node, entity suffix, dashboard path, volume-policy opt-in, and local idle-sleep exception. The daily 07:00 app-update pass processes followers before the fleet leader, stages a signed Kiosk Satellite update, then checks installed version, connectivity, dashboard, remote administration, voice availability, and a fresh screenshot. A stalled installer or incomplete recovery dispatches the enrolled device to the authorized maintenance agent. The app update scope excludes Android/LineageOS and unrelated software. Upstairs and Office volumes are manual; only Kitchen opts into the bed-dependent volume policy. Screen/event policies and snapshot refresh use the same inventory.
The kiosk package also exposes sensor.kiosk_recent_phone_notifications: a restoring, bounded feed of shared parent/family phone pushes, including title-only notices such as Life360 arrivals. All three Shows include those messages in their existing ten-second slide rotation for five minutes; the Bedroom message band uses the same five-minute feed and alternates them with household reminders while weather, security, and water-heater safety alerts retain priority. The round Living Room Nest gives shared notices an exclusive two-minute display window, then resumes its photo gallery. Entries show their sent time, replace by notification tag, and expire automatically within fifteen seconds of their deadline. Phone notification buttons and camera attachments remain on the phones.

Tugtainer container update reports via webhook, with Available-only reports processed without persistent alerts, visible ### Updated: / ### Failed: / ### Rolled-back: outcomes, immediate Joanna recovery dispatch for failures, and Joanna review dispatch for every ### Available: report. The notification template must include still-pending available(notified) items so unresolved updates remain visible. A daily 07:30 dispatch verifies the completed rollout, application health, and all protected updater components independently of report contents. Home Assistant core participates in the 07:00 automatic rollout after a mandatory Tugtainer pre-update config check, with HTTP health and image rollback safeguards. Joanna/BearClaw bridge automations dispatch trusted Home Assistant machine jobs to codex_appliance, relay lifecycle callbacks and outbound notifications, deliver compact adaptive TeslaMate road-trip milestone, destination-arrival, and final summaries to Carlo and Stacey, emit an active-trip vacation signal, ingest /api/bearclaw/status telemetry, and expose dispatch, distinct BearClaw working-memory and federated OneNote KB health, compact scheduled-job warning/error health for Systems, user-keyed 7/28/90 step trends, personal records for seven-day kiosk rotations, and 48-hour Carlo/Stacey bowling highlights for Kitchen Show. Authenticated human Telegram stays on the appliance's single agent-first Luna path; Home Assistant is not its semantic router. Full Joanna reports add directional route comparisons, charging strategy, trip-aware morning context, and a private final route map. Retired QMD telemetry is not imported. Mini App monitoring independently checks local and public serving paths every minute, tolerates three minutes of failure, and creates a persistent Repair plus a mobile alert. Recovery clears the incident after one healthy minute. A restoring incident latch deduplicates alerts across restarts; Joanna receives a diagnosis request when its main service is reachable. Private probe settings stay in local secrets. These checks verify serving and the unsigned authentication boundary, not signed user actions. Road-trip companion: |

Shares Garage-then-Front-Door priority plus reusable Bedroom header/alert state while keeping each display purpose-built. The Garage view now remains active for three minutes after both doors close before each kiosk returns to its default dashboard. Bedroom retains Fully wake/drift recovery and SleepIQ screen behavior around a clock-free night-watch display; Kitchen retains its clock/forecast, rotating household context, native camera overlays, Kiosk Satellite idle dimming, and an event-driven household policy that sets master volume to 13% while either bed is occupied and restores 75% when both are empty, with reconciliation at 08:00 and startup, and invokes the Dim screensaver while group.bed is on or the family is away. Nearby rain or lightning starts one five-minute NOAA radar takeover while the sun is above the horizon; afterward, the rotating Storms Approaching banner can replay the latest 20-minute loop while the event remains active. Actionable banner slides reuse one transient detail timer for NWS instructions, the front-door package view, a person-centered family map, open-entry details, Phyn water status with a confirmed valve-restore action, and hot-water recovery status. Sunset restores the ambient wall immediately. True idle panel-off remains disabled on the Crown LineageOS device until it has a reliable motion-wake input. Fully availability/page/app/power checks plus enrolled Show connectivity, current-page, and screenshot freshness keep the Systems Kiosks tab truthful; a reachable Kitchen display remains online while stale session timestamps remain visible only in the telemetry panel. Kitchen, Upstairs, and Office share the fleet-synced Joanna Voice Assist pipeline, with persistent follow-ups and native spoken replies through the shared Joanna human agent. The Living Room Nest adds an actual circular framebuffer preview, MQTT connection/screen/feed freshness, bounded scene recovery, and a durable repair after persistent failure; its attention state joins the kiosk and Systems rollups. Each satellite is explicitly enrolled with its own credential, assigned personal profile, and conversation history; the custom joanna_conversation integration enforces device binding. When a selected Joanna Voice satellite enters processing, one shared automation plays a cached two-second "Let me check on that" clip on that device while the answer continues. Upstairs and Office retain their compact Echo Show 5 view and native ESPHome telemetry. Shared health macros cover every enrolled Show, including foreground-app drift on the Echo Show 5 devices; one screenshot refresh loop covers all native Shows every 15 minutes and after delayed startup recovery. Their faults join the same Systems kiosk rollup and screenshot previews. Available Show updates remain advisory telemetry, while stable attention attributes preserve useful outage transitions without recording every heartbeat. At 07:00, Home Assistant processes enrolled followers before the fleet leader, requests each pending signed installer, and waits two minutes for staging. An incomplete installation dispatches Joanna to the fixed enrolled-device maintenance helper; an unsuccessful update is retried at 07:00 the following day until its native update entity confirms success. |

Unverified home sessions pause at 5 minutes; safe/stopped sessions receive a quiet monitoring warning at 15 minutes. Fresh post-stop zero current clears the critical incident. .
- Shared script keeps daytime targets consistent: away -> eco, home + outside >90F -> 78F, home + outside <=90F -> 80F. Daytime weather crossings must remain above or below 90F for one hour before changing the target. Downstairs bedtime cooling stays dynamic: outside >80F -> 77F, 76-79F -> 79F, below 76F -> leave the current target alone. Grid-down conditions pause non-essential cool-downs.

- Logic lives in
: continuous four-phase loop (sweep main, sweep baths, mop main, mop baths) driven by
input_select.l10s_vacuum_phaseandinput_text.l10s_vacuum_room_queue, with per-room notifications and automatic reseeding between phases. - Uses the Dreame HACS integration with segment IDs to enforce bathrooms last in each sweep/mop pass. An away departure starts or resumes the remaining queue; after a full four-phase cycle the On-Demand switch turns off and the queue resets.
- Family return stops the active task before docking, including mid-cycle mop returns. The remaining room queue is retained until the next departure; a 10-minute home trigger provides a retry if the first arrival edge was missed.
- At 5 PM, a new cycle may start only while the family is away and at least four full days after the last phase started. Vacation Mode does not disable this four-day cadence.
- Room queue advances on a 2-minute dwell in
sensor.l10s_vacuum_current_room(queue = remaining rooms); phase changes happen when an empty queue is reseeded and the vacuum is not actively cleaning. - One-off room cleaning for Alexa uses
input_boolean.l10s_vacuum_clean_*(example: "Kitchen Clean") and runs a segment job without touching or checking the phased queue. - Formal Dining (room 17/dock) is excluded from phased queues; clean it via the one-off toggle.

Managed NETGEAR switches use network_switches.yaml: authenticated SNMPv3 monitors all physical links and PoE delivery, key-link speed/error counters, firmware, uptime and PoE budget utilization. Camera PoE controls omit AP, compute and uplink ports. Current firmware provides no thermal/fan/CPU MIB readings. The retired UniFi switch is disabled in the device registry. glances.yaml retains the informational CPU-package average and uses the hottest package for sustained heat warnings: 80 C for ten minutes, urgent at 90 C for two minutes or 95 C immediately, and recovery below 75 C for fifteen minutes. These hardware readings remain distinct from ambient room temperature. Thermal protection describes incident deduplication and graceful optional-camera workload shedding.
